Are Teeth Whitening Treatments or Veneers Better For Your Teeth?

If you’ve got your heart set on a perfect smile, you may be investigating cosmetic dental treatments, such as tooth whitening and veneers, but how do you decide which option is best for you? If you’re weighing up the pros and cons, we’re here to help!

Tooth whitening

Tooth whitening is a hugely popular cosmetic treatment, which is used to bring a healthy glow to your smile. Using bleaching agents, we can achieve amazing transformations in a short space of time with no pain and minimal hassle. We offer Enlighten professional whitening treatment, which lightens the colour of the enamel by several shades in just 2 weeks. Whitening is safe, it produces long-lasting results, and it’s a cheaper option than veneers.

Veneers

Veneers are very delicate, tooth-shaped shells, which are placed over the natural teeth to create a beautiful, flawless smile. Veneers can be used to brighten up the smile, but they can also address a host of other aesthetic issues, including chipped teeth, uneven and worn edges, misshapen teeth and gaps between the teeth. Veneers don’t actually rectify these problems, they simply provide a mask for them. Veneers offer long-lasting results, and they can do a lot more than just whitening the smile, but they are more expensive and treatment is more complex.

If you have any questions about tooth whitening or veneers, and you’d like more information or advice about choosing which treatment is best for you, why not give us a call and organise a consultation? We can explore both options, talk to you about the processes in more detail, and help you decide which avenue to pursue.

Illuminate Your Smile This Winter with Lumineers

It may be damp and miserable outside, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t add a little extra sparkle to your life. If you’re hoping to brighten up those blustery days, why not treat yourself to a radiant new smile? With Lumineers, we can create glistening smiles in no time at all.

What are Lumineers?

Lumineers are unique veneers, which are crafted using patented, pressed ceramics. Produced by the Cerinate laboratory in the USA, Lumineers are the ultimate choice for anyone who dreams of a stunning, natural-looking smile.

Lumineers are not your average veneers. The pressed porcelain they are made from is not just aesthetically pleasing and delicate. It’s also incredibly hard-wearing and durable. Although Lumineers are thin, they are also very strong. In fact, Lumineers are up to twice as strong as other types of porcelain veneers. The added strength means that your new smile will stand the test of time.

The benefits of Lumineers

Most of us consider our smile our most important feature. If you have a brilliant smile, you probably don’t think twice about flashing it when you meet new people or pose for photos. If, however, you’re not happy with the appearance of your smile, you may be reticent to show your teeth. With Lumineers, we can transform dull, damaged, misshapen, wonky teeth into a scintillating smile.

Lumineers don’t just offer aesthetic advantages. As they are so thin, very little preparation is required, and this means that the tooth structure can be preserved and that treatment is minimally invasive. Lumineers are also much stronger than other veneers, so they should last longer.

If you like the sound of a sparkling winter smile, why not get in touch and find out more about luscious Lumineers?

How the Inman Aligner Can Provide Rapid Results in Essex

Are you on the hunt for a tooth straightening treatment that can achieve rapid results in Essex? If you’re searching for a treatment that takes weeks, rather than months, allow us to introduce you to the Inman Aligner.

The ins and outs of the Inman Aligner

The Inman Aligner is a removable brace, which is used to target minor issues that affect the front teeth. This is a very straightforward treatment option, which will appeal to those who are eager to enjoy the benefits of treatment as quickly as possible. The Inman Aligner features two main components, a metal bar and a coiled spring. The metal bar is located at the front of the teeth, and the spring sits behind your teeth. These parts work together to produce forces, which push and pull the teeth, moving them in the right direction.

What are the advantages of the Inman Aligner?

The Inman Aligner has a huge amount to offer orthodontic patients who don’t need a vast amount of movement. Benefits include:

  • Speed: this is one of the fastest treatments on the market, with an average completion of time of just 16 weeks.
  • Flexibility: this is a removable brace, which gives you greater flexibility and more control of your treatment.
  • Comfort: the Inman Aligner uses the latest technology to reduce discomfort and move the teeth quickly but gently.
  • Convenience: as you can remove your brace, you don’t need to worry about adapting your daily routine in any way. You can eat as normal and you can also clean your teeth without having to negotiate wires and brackets.

Am I a good match for the Inman Aligner?

The Inman Aligner is ideally suited to patients who have mild issues, and it can also be beneficial for patients who have experienced relapse after undergoing treatment previously. In cases where a lot of movement is needed, it may be better to consider other options, and we can go through some alternative treatments with you.

Did You Know Dental Implants Can Give You Peace of Mind for Your Smile?

Are you struggling to cope with missing teeth, or are you having trouble with your dentures? If you’ve got concerns about your smile, we have the ultimate solution! With dental implants, we can give you a beautiful smile, as well as complete peace of mind.

The lowdown on dental implants

Dental implants are a relative newcomer on the tooth replacement scene. Implants are designed to replace the missing root, and they are used to anchor dentures, dental bridges and individual crowns. Implants are small, screw-like devices, which are made from titanium. They are placed inside small sockets in the jaw bone. Titanium is a biocompatible material, which means that the implant is capable of integrating into the bone tissue. This provides superior stability for the new tooth. If you have an implant, you won’t notice the difference between your natural teeth and your new tooth.

Implants are a versatile option for patients who have lost teeth, as they are compatible with a range of different restorations. Whether you’ve lost a single tooth, or a full arch of teeth, implants can help to restore your smile to its former glory. Implants are also a long-term solution for tooth loss, and they create spectacular, natural-looking aesthetics.

Achieving peace of mind with dental implants

If you’ve had problems with your dentures in the past, this may have impacted your confidence levels. You might be reluctant to eat in public, or you may feel anxious about the look of your smile. With implants, there is no need to worry. Your smile will look amazing, you’ll be able to enjoy the same level of functionality as with a set of healthy, natural teeth, and there’s absolutely no risk of slipping or sliding, even if you still have dentures. Implant-retained dentures are completely stable and secure, so you can eat, speak, and smile without any anxiety at all.

Why it is So Important to Floss Before Dental Treatment

We all know how important brushing is for our dental health, but many of us overlook flossing. Flossing is a technique, which involves using ultra-fine dental tape to clean the areas of the mouth that are missed when brushing.

Flossing before dental treatment

If you’re due to undergo dental treatment, we recommended brushing and flossing in advance. This will help to clean the mouth and remove potentially harmful bacteria. Flossing dislodges food debris and bacteria from the gum line and the cracks between the teeth and it can help to provide a deeper clean before treatment.

The benefits of flossing

Flossing is designed to be used in addition to twice-daily brushing as part of an effective oral hygiene routine. Flossing is beneficial for your dental health because it targets parts of the mouth that are tricky to reach with a brush, including the gaps between the teeth and the gum line. The more bacteria and debris you remove, the lower the risk of plaque developing. Plaque is a sticky film, which clings to the surfaces of the teeth and the gums. It is made from bacteria, bits of food and saliva, and it is the most potent risk factor for decay and gum disease. Flossing can help to prevent oral disease and bad breath and keep your smile looking great.

Flossing tips

If you’ve never flossed before, you may find that it takes a couple of attempts to get the hang of it. Flossing involves passing a length of dental floss through the cracks between the teeth and cleaning along your gum line. Use separate pieces of tape, and don’t tug at the floss, as this can damage the gums. It is normal for the gums to bleed when flossing for the first time, but if bleeding persists, see your dentist. Bleeding gums can be a symptom of gum disease.

Dental Treatment whilst you Relax in Essex

At Advance Dental, we know that going to the dentist isn’t the most relaxing experience. That is, until you come to our clinic. We’ve designed an oasis of calm to help you feel at ease. If you’re a nervous patient or you’re anxious about having treatment, we’ll do everything we can to help you stay calm and ensure your experience is as positive as possible.

Our relaxing dental clinic

We understand that many people feel anxious about going to the dentist, and we’ve worked hard to design a space that is relaxing and soothing. We want our patients to feel calm and confident, and we encourage you to make yourself at home as soon as you arrive. We’re on hand to answer questions, we can put some music on for you, you can watch a film or just sit back and chill out. Our team is friendly and approachable, we have experienced dentists who are well-versed in caring for nervous patients, and we’re here to help you every step of the way.

Treatment for nervous patients in Essex

It’s very common for people to put off going to the dentist due to nerves and anxiety. We want to make sure that our patients feel comfortable coming to see us on a regular basis, and we’re geared up to provide care for those who are scared. We use advanced technology to accelerate treatment times and prevent pain, and we can also offer treatment under sedation. Sedation is a technique used widely in dentistry and medicine to help patients feel relaxed and eliminate discomfort. When you’re sedated, you won’t feel any pain, but you will still be conscious. At the time, you’ll feel drowsy, and the effects of the sedative will start to wear off once your dentist has finished the procedure. It can take up to 24 hours to feel completely ‘normal’ again, so we advise you to ask a friend or relative to accompany you home, and we recommend avoiding driving, drinking alcohol and exercising.

If you’re looking for a relaxing environment to have dental treatment in Essex, don’t hesitate to get in touch! We look forward to hearing from you.

Brightening Your Smile, Brightening Your Day at Advance Dental Clinic

Smiling is infectious, and it instantly brightens up your day. Sadly, far too many hide their smiles away because they’re conscious of the appearance of their teeth. If you’re worried about stained or discoloured teeth, or you’d love a whiter, brighter smile, we have just the solution for you: Enlighten tooth whitening.

Introducing Enlighten

Enlighten is a professional whitening treatment, which is capable of achieving magical results. This is currently the only system available in the UK that guarantees shade B1, the lightest tooth shade.

Enlighten is a two-step treatment, and it combines at-home and in-chair treatment. Before you begin, we’ll invite you to attend an informal consultation. We’ll talk to you about the treatment, the processes involved and answer any questions. We’ll then create a putty mould of your teeth, which will serve as a template for your bespoke Enlighten whitening trays. Once your trays are ready, you can take them home and start your treatment.

For the first 14 days, we ask you to wear your Enlighten trays, which look similar to a gum shield, for around 6 hours per day. The trays contain a bleaching agent, which gradually lightens the enamel on contact. Your trays should feel comfortable, and you can wear them during the night so that they don’t interfere with your daily routine.

On the 15th day, we’ll organise a short session at the clinic to complete your treatment. This 1-hour power whitening session will give your smile that extra sparkle! We will ask you to lie back and relax, put on some goggles, and then apply the whitening agent to your teeth. This will then be activated using a light source. After an hour, we’ll show you your amazing new smile, and you’re free to go and show it off to all your friends and family.

If you’re keen to find out more or you’d like to book an appointment, pick up the phone now!
