Five tips for more effective teeth cleaning

Cleaning your teeth may seem like a mundane chore, but it’s incredibly important. Brushing and flossing play an instrumental part in preventing the build-up of plaque, the number one cause of decay and gum disease. If you’re keen to improve your oral hygiene routine, here are 5 top tips:

  1. Invest in an electric toothbrush: electric toothbrushes are more powerful than manual brushes and they are proven to remove plaque more effectively. If you don’t already have an electric brush, it’s worth investing in one to improve your oral health. You don’t have to spend a fortune. Even the most basic models will work wonders.
  2. Brush twice a day: it’s so important to brush regularly to prevent the formation of plaque and eliminate harmful bacteria and lingering odours. We recommend brushing in the morning and before you go to bed.
  3. Clean between your teeth: brushing is brilliant, but it has limitations. You can’t fit a brush head between your teeth, for example. This is why using inter-dental brushes or flossing is so important. By doing this, you can remove traces of bacteria and food debris from the mouth, reducing the risk of oral disease.
  4. Use fluoride toothpaste: fluoride toothpaste can help to strengthen and protect your enamel, keeping your teeth safe from cavities.
  5. Swap your brush head: worn bristles won’t be as effective as new ones, so remember to swap your brush or your brush head every 3-4 months.
