What exactly is Cerec?

Cerec (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a form of dental technology, which enables us to restore the teeth in a single treatment session. Typically, if you needed a crown, you would be advised to book two sessions, around 2 weeks apart. During the first appointment, your dentist would prepare the tooth and create a putty mould, which would be sent away to the dental laboratory. During the second session, the permanent, bespoke crown would be placed and fixed. With Cerec, we can undertake all aspects of treatment on-site. There’s no need for putty impressions and we don’t need to send moulds away to the lab. We can design, make and fit new crowns right here at the clinic.

Cerec uses camera images, rather than putty impressions, to form 3D templates, which are used to design and fabricate the new crown. Once the templates are ready, they are sent to the on-site milling machine and minutes later, the crown will be ready to fit.

What are the benefits of Cerec?

Cerec offers benefits for both patients and dentists. Firstly, the speed of treatment is accelerated, as every stage of the process can be completed on-site. The process is also much less messy and invasive than traditional techniques, and it’s also more precise and accurate.
