If you’ve got a broken tooth, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We have a range of techniques and treatments we can use to patch you up and put a smile back on your face. Here are 3 ways we can repair a broken tooth:
- Crown: if your tooth is broken, we may recommend placing a crown over the top of the existing tooth structure. A crown is a restoration, which is designed to strengthen an infected, decayed or damaged tooth. Crowns can be made from various materials, but most patients prefer to opt for ceramic crowns, as they produce very natural and lifelike results. We can fit same-day crowns using Cerec or place a temporary crown, which can be replaced with a bespoke crown a couple of weeks later.
- Cosmetic bonding: cosmetic bonding is a very effective and versatile aesthetic treatment, which can be used to build up tooth surfaces that have been worn and repair chipped and broken teeth. In this case, your dentist will use composite material to repair the tooth. Composite is tooth-coloured and at room temperature, it has a putty-like consistency. Once the composite material has been applied to the tooth, it is set using a specific curing light. This treatment is quick and painless.
- Root canal treatment: if the tooth is badly broken and the nerves are exposed, root canal treatment may be recommended. Root canal therapy is a procedure used to treat and prevent infection when the pulp tissue, the living part of the tooth, is at risk. This procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and it is often followed by placing a new crown on the tooth.
