The Facts About Clear Braces

If you’ve ever wanted orthodontic treatment but been put off by the look of braces, we may have the perfect solution for you. In recent years, clear braces have become incredibly popular, as more and more people choose discreet orthodontic solutions to give them a beautiful, straight smile. One of our most popular treatments is Invisalign.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an innovative modern alternative to traditional fixed braces. Rather than using braces, which are made up of brackets and wires, to move the teeth, Invisalign uses a series of bespoke clear plastic aligners. The aligners are very light and they are almost invisible to other people. They are also removable and they should be taken out to eat, drink and clean the teeth.

These incredible aligners are created according to a personalised treatment plan. Each aligner is different and you must wear them in a set series. Each aligner is worn for two weeks and then replaced with the next aligner until the series is complete.

Why would I consider clear braces?

Clear braces have an obvious benefit over traditional fixed braces – they are invisible when you smile. This means that you don’t have to worry about how your looks will change during the treatment process or what other people may think about your braces. Braces are not the most attractive appliances and they are not considered very fashionable, so discreet braces are a great option for those who are image-conscious.

Invisalign also has a host of other benefits. The aligners are light and comfortable and they do not contain any metal. They are also removable, which gives you more flexibility and the treatment is planned in advance, which means you have an idea of what your smile will look like before you even start treatment. Social Situations Where You Could Benefit from Invisible Braces

Invisible braces, such as Invisalign braces, can be used by people of all ages if their dental needs and desires require this orthodontic approach. Having braces that are discreet and barely visible to others can help children and adults have their teeth straightened in the most comfortable way.

Invisible braces help children

Children can be bullied at school because of differences such as having crooked teeth or wearing visible braces that look like a set of train tracks. Other kids may call these youngsters names and even go as far as causing physical harm, not to mention long-lasting emotional scars and anxiety.

Social situations where children can wear braces include:

  • During school hours and when out and about for educational field trips or projects.
  • For sports and recreational activities, or artistic endeavors.
  • At Prize Giving, parent-child events and celebrations for Halloween, Easter and Christmas.
  • Visits to the library or computer assessment centres.

Giving your child invisible braces can have immense benefits besides straightening their teeth for improved oral health. Invisible braces can give children a sense of confidence and self-acceptance when their feelings about their self and appearance is most vulnerable. Feeling accepted by peers in social settings is crucial for developing identity, strong self-image and independence.

Invisible braces help adults

There are also times when adults would prefer to wear braces discreetly, so no-one knows they are having dental treatment. This can be for various reasons:

  • Forming good first impressions that last and count, such as for job interviews and first dates.
  • For comfort and confidence in leisure activities, like attending a spa or events while on holiday.
  • Not having to worry about food appearing on the front of your brace while having a meal with family, friends or business associates.
  • Where others may be opinionated and think you don’t need teeth straightening or that it’s a sign of vanity.
  • Avoiding being laughed at by adults at work or by adults and children when out in public.

Invisible braces are the solution you need for happiness and beauty – regardless of your age!

The Stages of Treatment for Amazing Invisalign Braces

Invisalign is one of our most popular orthodontic treatments and it’s not hard to see why! This invisible treatment enables patients of all ages to achieve the perfect smile without anyone even knowing that they are wearing a brace.

The stages of Invisalign treatment

Invisalign treatment offers a modern alternative to traditional fixed braces. Rather than wearing a fixed brace made from brackets and wires, Invisalign involves wearing a series of clear plastic aligners, which are removable and invisible to others.

Before you begin treatment, you will have a consultation with one of your dentists, who will assess your orthodontic needs, analyse your bite and have a good chat with you about the treatment, what it involves, how it works and what kinds of benefits it offers.

Invisalign treatment is planned in advanced using the latest software. Using the information provided by your dentist, the programme will plot the movement of the teeth and design the templates for your bespoke aligners. Each patient receives a set of aligners, all of which are different.

When your aligners are ready, you can start your treatment and your dentist will explain how to use the aligners, when to swap them over and how to look after them. You should wear your aligners for two weeks at a time in the specified order.

During your treatment, your dentist will schedule regular follow-up sessions to see how you are getting on. If you have any questions or concerns at all between appointments, just call the clinic and we will be happy to help.

Once your dentist is happy with the results of your treatment and satisfied with the new position of your teeth, you can remove your aligner for the last time and start enjoying your amazing new smile! After treatment, you will be advised to wear a retainer to help prevent the teeth from slipping out of position. Some patients choose to have whitening treatment and we will be happy to discuss options with you.

How to Straighten Your Teeth Without Wires and Brackets

If you need to have your teeth straightened due to misalignment, spacing or overcrowding it can be very off -putting to be faced with 12 to 18 months worth of metal mouth smiles. Although conventional braces do work very well they are also very unsightly.

Invisible alternative to metal braces

Thanks to modern technology there are now a number of ways you can undergo tooth straightening without having to have a mouth full of obvious metal. One of the best ways to achieve a straighter, healthier looking smile is by using Invisalign braces.

What are Invisalign braces?

Invisalign braces are a series of removable clear aligners that are used to gently re-position your teeth. Anyone can use this type of brace and because they are made from clear plastic they are almost impossible to see. Generally unless you tell someone you are wearing them they will not know you are undergoing treatment.

How long does treatment take?

The average treatment time is the same as it is for conventional metal braces, around 12 to 18 months. The aligners will need to be worn for at least 21 hours every day, however they can be removed for special events and whilst eating and drinking.

Do they hurt?

It is common for there to be some discomfort for the first few days whilst the mouth adjusts to them. However they will not damage your gums or cheeks in any way as they are carefully moulded and smooth. The only thing you will feel on a contestant basis is the sensation of slight pressure on the teeth. This is normal and means that they are working.

Are there any side effects to having Invisalign braces?

As with any braces the speech may be affected for a few days. Once the mouth has become accustom to them this will settle itself out and everything should be back to normal within a few days to a week at the most.

Invisalign Straightens Teeth Without Wires or Brackets!

The Invisalign system is one of the main innovations of modern orthodontics, providing effective tooth straightening invisibly.

In the past patients from Central London and throughout the UK had to suffer the stigma and discomfort of fixed brackets and wires, which instantly drew attention to their mouth and teeth. Thankfully, today we have clear aligners, such as those used during the Invisalign treatment. These are used to straighten teeth, creating beautiful, straight smiles without the embarrassment of metal attachments.

How does Invisalign work?

The Invisalign system involves the use of several clear aligners (generally between 18-30), which are replaced every two weeks with a new and differently aligned clear aligner. This graduation from one aligner shape to the next gradually moves the teeth into their new position, without the need for wires or brackets.

How are Invisalign aligners made?

First, impressions and images will be taken of your teeth and these will be sent to the Invisalign laboratories. There, they not only make your set of personalised aligners, but also show you how your teeth will look after your treatment is complete, which your dentist will show you using the Clin-Check system.

How long does Invisalign take to straighten my teeth?

Invisalign can be used to treat a range of orthodontic conditions, including crooked teeth, gapped teeth, twisted teeth and overbites and generally the time it takes to straighten your teeth will vary between 9-24 months, depending on the severity of your orthodontic condition.

The length of your treatment will be discussed during your consultation.

What are the main benefits of Invisalign?

  • Treatment is completely invisible and no one will see that you are having your teeth straightened.
  • The aligners are removable, so you can take them out to eat and clean your teeth, ensuring that your oral health is kept at its very best.
  • As there are no wires or attachment and due to the lower forces used with Invisalign you will not experience the soreness, ulcers and discomfort most fixed brace wearing encounter.

Straighten Teeth Without Fixed Braces Near Chelmsford

If you’re not keen on the idea of wearing fixed braces for months on end, you’re not alone; thankfully, we offer innovative alternatives, including Invisalign. Invisalign is a completely different treatment to the old-fashioned train-tracks most people think of when somebody mentions braces; this system uses a series of completely clear, removable aligners to move your teeth and give you a perfectly straight set of pearly whites. With Invisalign, patients can enjoy the flexibility of a removable brace, as well as the discretion of clear braces; when the aligners are in position, they cannot be detected, so you can smile in confidence, safe in the knowledge that nobody will know that you’re wearing braces. Removable braces are not just advantageous because they give you more freedom; they also have practical benefits. Wearing braces can make brushing the teeth and eating more difficult and daunting; with removable braces, you don’t have to adapt the way you do these day to day activities at all and you can carry on as normal, with no fears about trapped food or an increased risk of decay because you cant brush your teeth properly. The Invisalign treatment process differs to conventional orthodontic treatment, as it uses a number of appliances, rather than a single fixed brace. Each Invisalign aligner is slightly different; the aligners are swapped every 2 weeks and should be worn at all times apart from when you are eating, drinking and brushing your teeth. Invisalign is suitable for teenagers and adults and it offers a solution for many common orthodontic issues, including mild crowding, spaces between the teeth and crooked teeth.
