What is CEREC?

CEREC is a revolutionary form of technology, which enables us to restore the teeth in a single day. Traditionally, when you need a new crown, for example, we would use putty to create a mould of the tooth, which would be sent away to a laboratory. A dental technician would make a new crown and then return it to us and we would fit it. With CEREC, the process is much simpler and faster. We can do everything on-site, and the entire process takes less than a day.

CEREC technology gives the opportunity to design, manufacture and fit bespoke crowns, veneers, onlays and inlays in a single day. This means that patients don’t have to wait around to enjoy the results of their treatment.

What does treatment involve?

The first stage of CEREC treatment involves using a camera to take pictures of the tooth or teeth. These images are then converted by CEREC into models, which are sent to the on-site milling machine. The fabrication process then begins and minutes later, you have your bespoke restoration. Your dentist will then secure the restoration, and you can see your new smile for the first time.

With CEREC, there’s no need for putty impressions, which is great news for patients who find that an uncomfortable experience, or temporary restorations.
