Many of the older generation in Basildon may have had to the suffer the torture of wearing a brace in the past or at least of having a pre-conceived idea of what having to wear one looks like- all wires and pipes…my how things have changed and there is no reason for your kids of the next generation to suffer the same fate that you may of, thanks to a beautiful, yes beautiful, new aligner called Invisalign. Made from a completely transparent plastic and more akin to a gum-shield than a brace, it’s practically impossible to detect that it is even fitted from another person’s perspective, removing the horrible stigma associated with older fashioned braces. It can be removed when socialising, dining out or cleaning the teeth giving you double the freedom that others aligners don’t. Okay, it’s not the cheapest aligner you’ll find in the dentist’s shop window, but once you’ve made your choice to go with this treatment and a series of ‘gum-shields’ are made up for you from digital images, your treatment will be over in a third of the time that it takes for other braces and aligners to work. Not everyone is suited for the treatment but if you are, the whole idea of fixing your teeth without anyone even noticing is got to be worth at least checking it out. Many teenagers have uttered it over the years: ‘if only there was a way I could straighten my teeth out without having a horrible looking metal thing in my mouth.’ It’s easy to understand where they are coming from because, although braces are supremely effective at what they do, they don’t exactly look very attractive.
The prayers have been answered though in the form of Invisalign, also known by its many enthusiasts as: ‘the see through brace’. Instead of attaching metal brackets to the teeth and then threading wires through them, Invisalign uses a clear plastic that is fitted over the teeth, a bit like a mouth guard but without the flexibility.
At regular appointments with your Basildon dentist, they will assess the progress of your teeth under the influence of the Invisalign brace. When your teeth have been moved as far as they can by that particular Invisalign, your dentist will fabricate you a new one to wear that will gently push your teeth a little further into the positions which are best for them.
They are completely removable and they only have to be worn for twenty two hours a day. This means they can be take out to be cleaned after meals or even not worn during the meals themselves. Although they are comfortable and discreet, they can even be taken out for a meeting or during the all-important school disco.
Ask your Basildon dentist if he or she is registered with Invisalign is you have crooked teeth that you are fed up with and want them to be sorted out. You won’t regret it when you have a splendid set of teeth that are perfectly aligned with one another. Call 01245 268 494 for a free consultation at Advance Dental Clinic in Chelmsford.

If you’ve just been told you have to wear braces to get you’re teeth in line- that can mean a good 2 years of metalwork in your mouth and that’s hard enough, but as a teenager at school, it could mean a devastating two years of ‘ribbing’ in the playground that you could well do without, and, also two years of the lack of titillating kisses and romance in the most formulative years of your life, just when you need it the most! But hold on there, you young (and old) scallywags of Basildon, because dentistry has moved on. The wheel has been invented now, and thanks to those geniuses across the Atlantic, so has Invisalign- this aligner has buried others that came before it. Ridicule is no more with this device, simply because it’s ‘invisible’ in the mouth and made from a completely transparent material, moulded to suit your mouth. But it gets a whole lot better than that. For starters, it works on average, three times faster than conventional braces, but the greatest advantage of all is that it’s removable allowing you to eat in a normal manner, and to maintain a normal oral hygiene programme, that fixed braces allow. It also allows you to go out for a couple of hours a day and put sticks on the fire of that teenage romance you so desperately crave…how’s that for technology and god bless America! It’s hard to think that wearing a brace or aligner can actually be a smooth, gentle, ridicule-free period in your life. But if you take a close look at what’s available in Epping, you’ll find a treatment that’s exactly that. Invisalign is a fairly new American invention that has thankfully hit the streets of the UK that frankly, offers supreme advantages that other teeth straightening procedures can only dream of. When you’ve signed up with the programme and checked that the programme is suitable for you, then the treatment begins. A series of custom built, transparent aligners are manufactured for you, each being changed at set intervals to maintain the movement of your teeth. Invisalign has to be worn at least 20 hours a day, hence, giving you your first benefit of this aligner; most braces are fixed which can cause problems with cleaning. It also slashes the treatment times to a third of other braces. One of its most attractive qualities other than the price, (Invisalign starts from about £1900), for the wearer, is that it’s the most discreet aligner on the market today. Shaped similar to a gum shield, Invisalign is made from a completely, ‘invisible’ material, that is almost impossible to spot in the mouth- imagine the freedom that can give if your a teenager at school. It’s rapidly becoming the most popular choice of aligner around and with these benefits, it’s not hard to see why! Call 01245 268 494 for a free consultation at Advance Dental Clinic in Chelmsford.

Metal braces can dash your confidence as they may make you nervous about smiling. Many people have found that the presence of metal brackets and wires in their mouths has led to them being socially inhibited. For some years, orthodontic practice has relied on these braces to correct teeth but now there is a new way to your perfect smile with an incredible brace that is virtually invisible.
Dentists can now use modern computer technology and 3D imaging software to create braces that have come to be known as ‘see through’ or ‘invisible’. They are virtually unnoticeable in your mouth, giving you extra confidence to smile even while you are undergoing the treatment. The Invisalign product is a clear brace, sculpted specially for your unique mouth that moves your teeth gradually over time in the manner of a traditional brace but without the aesthetic problem.
Once fitted with Invisalign you will wear it for twenty two hours a day and have regular meetings with your dentist who will be able to provide replacements Invisaligns as and when your teeth require them. Unlike traditional braces which are attached to your teeth, Invisaligns are completely removable, which makes eating and drinking so much easier. You need not worry about food debris being trapped in the Invisalign as it is very easy to clean once you have taken it out of your mouth.
Invisaligns give much greater comfort than you could expect from traditional metal braces. This is because they don’t have any metal brackets, wiring or uncomfortable elastic bands which need to be tightened. If your Braintree dentist is Invisalign-certified, he or she will give you a free consultation to establish if you are suitable for this amazing new product: the invisible brace. The sight of a mouth full of fixed metal bracket and wire braces is not a particularly attractive one, and for many teenagers in such a difficult emotional time, can be the source of much embarrassment. This could affect confidence and emotional development at a crucial time in their lives, which is exactly the thinking behind the designers of the Invisalign orthodontic straightening system.
Invisalign is a clear plastic brace about one millimetre thick, designed especially for each patient. Each retainer-like brace is worn for about three weeks before it is replaced with another, with slight adjustments. Over the course of the treatment, this will gradually manipulate the teeth and move them into the desired position. In total, about 25 to 30 retainers are needed on average for a full treatment. This means that treatment with Invisalign is about six months shorter than the average fixed brace treatment.
However, the length of treatment is not the main advantage of the Invisalign brace. But the fact it is almost completely invisible when in the mouth most certainly is. All the aesthetic compromise usually required for wearing a brace is no longer necessary as many Invisalign users straighten their teeth without anyone even knowing they wear a brace. This is one of the main reasons why Invisalign braces are so popular with teenage patients.
Another reason is the fact that they are also completely removable so can be taken out for eating and teeth cleaning. This means they have a significantly reduced oral hygiene impact than fixed braces, which can leave stains or clean patches when removed.
Invisalign braces from Braintree dentists are revolutionising the world of orthodontics. If you or your child is likely to require braces, ask your dentist about Invisalign braces and straighten your teeth without the sacrifice. Invisalign is a trade name for a brace that is clear in colour and is referred to as being almost invisible, says a Maldon dentist. Your dentist will first take a good look at your teeth; it will depend on whether your teeth are badly misaligned or the damage is too much for this particular brace. On deciding to use the Invisalign as a means to straighten your teeth, and give you a better smile, they will then take some digital photos and make a model of your teeth. The model is made by placing a putty type material into a mould tray, this is then placed in the mouth and you will be asked to bite down on it. This takes an impression of your teeth, and from this your first of many Invisaligns will be made. They are clear in colour as they are made from a material that is rubber like and see through. They are then fitted onto your teeth in much the same way as a boxer would wear a gum shield; the brilliant thing about them is that they are removable for eating, drinking and cleaning the brace and your teeth. You will need to have a new one made every fortnight and fitted again at the dentist’s to make sure they are doing their job. From the very beginning a computer generated image will be made from the mould, this will show the dentist, and you, how your teeth will be shaped at each stage of the procedure. From this moving model on a DVD you can both see the progress; your dentist especially can then check when you visit them that the progress is going to plan. It isn’t easy to estimate the time it will take as a lot of factors will depend on it, that will include how often you remove the Invisalign and for how long each time. For patients with uneven or crooked teeth, the prospect of wearing a brace can often be an unpleasant one. Traditional fixed-metal braces can be very uncomfortable and can cause irritation to the soft tissue. They can also make it very hard to clean teeth effectively because the fixed brackets cover so much of the surface enamel. This is mentioning nothing about the visual appearance of metal braces, which can be very unseemly and unappealing.
Luckily for patients needing braces, there is an alternative in the form of Invisalign clear plastic braces. Made from one-millimetre thick plastic, the Invsialign brace is almost completely invisible when in the patient’s mouth, unless standing very close. They are also completely removable which makes cleaning the teeth a lot easier. It also means the brace can be taken out for meal times, putting no limits on what the patient can and can’t eat.
Invisalign braces use no metal wires so the degree of comfort is far superior to wire-bracket braces. The system works by using a series of about twenty braces each worn for a period of two weeks. Each new retainer is designed to make small alterations which when combined gradually move the teeth into the desired position over the course of treatment. This will usually last about eighteen months, on average six-months shorter than traditional braces.
Invisalign braces from a Chelmsford dentist are particularly suited for younger patients because of the aesthetic qualities they can offer. There are also specially designed Invisalign Teen braces, which have added features specially suited for younger patients. If you or your child needs orthodontic teeth straightening, ask your dentist about the benefits of Invisalign braces. Nobody ever wants to wear a brace but everybody wants to have straight teeth but sometimes it is an inevitable sacrifice. One to two years with a mouthful of uncomfortable and unseemly metal braces to have straight teeth at the end. This was always the deal available to patients in the past. This can be particularly unpleasant for patients in their emotionally turbulent teenage years when standing out from the crowd is the last thing they want. It can also be unfortunate for older patients, when the stigma of metal braces being for younger people can be embarrassing especially in a professional environment. Thankfully there is now a solution to this dilemma.
In 1999 a company called Align Technologies introduced their Invisalign range of invisible plastic braces. This was a system that offered genuinely discreet teeth straightening that was also effective. Clear plastic retainer braces had existed before but had often been ineffectual bordering on useless and most patients were still opting for the old fashioned metal braces.
Invisalign braces are manufactured from one millimetre thick clear plastic and moulded to fit over the patient’s teeth with small adjustments. These small adjustments are designed to gradually move misaligned teeth into position over time. By using twenty to thirty retainers, each worn for a period of two weeks (although treatment times do vary on a patient to patient basis), overcrowding and misaligned teeth can gradually be straightened with out the need for fixed metal brackets. Invisalign braces are also almost completely invisible unless standing very close to the patient. They also have the advantage of being completely removable so can be taken out for eating or important business or social occasions.
Invisalign braces are the first invisible brace that offers genuine straightening power as well as a real level of discretion. It is now possible to have straight teeth without having to sacrifice up to two years of your life to the uncomfortable and embarrassing metal brace. Dentists will be able to offer further advice and information about Invisalign clear plastic braces and assess whether they could be suitable for your teeth. After seeing lots of great results on our patients with Invisalign brace treatments I’ve decided to take the plunge and try the treatment for myself. After 2 weeks I’m onto my second aligner and all’s going well after a few days of getting used to wearing the aligners!
More updates in the next few weeks to follow.
