The technological changes that made the twentieth century such a pivotal period of human history did not leave the world of dentistry unaltered. Dentists can now utilise new technology to radically change the way that they practice and patients in the United Kingdom are benefitting hugely.
CEREC techniques allow dentists to carry out their work with greater speed and in a stream lined fashion too. What CEREC amounts to is the digitisation of many aspects of dentistry. Instead of having to rely on traditional x-rays, dentists can use digital images instead. The trouble with traditional x-rays is that they had to be developed in special labs and then sent back to the dental surgery. This was time consuming and hardly efficient.
Digital x-rays can be done quickly, there and then in the surgery and the images are immediately available to view. With traditional x-rays, repeated images often had to be taken to get different views of the same tooth or area of the mouth but digital x-rays come in three dimensions and dentists can navigate around them on a computer screen.
This high technology in dental surgeries is allowing procedures to be carried out quickly as, not only are traditional x-rays becoming less common, things like moulds are not used as much either. Instead of having to wait for the moulds to set and then use them, dentists can use the digital technology and even combine it with machines which will make the product, be it a porcelain dental crown or a porcelain dental veneer.
Ask your Basildon dentist about how he or she is using CEREC techniques and what it might mean for you and the dental work that your need to be carried out. Call 01245 268 494 for a free consultation at Advance Dental Clinic in Chelmsford.

If you’re one of these people that feel you can barely fit anymore into an already overcrowded day, you probably haven’t the time to think much about getting your teeth into shape with a little bit of cosmetic dentistry on the side. But think again, because those wonderful dental scientists have caught up with the needs of the modern world and come up with something just for the likes of you in Basildon- CEREC. Not satisfied with just inventing beautiful cosmetic dentistry ideas such as crowns veneers, white fillings, etc, which would normally take a reasonable few weeks to measure up and fix, no, they have now put together all the latest technology, such as computers, digital imaging and a good old fashioned milling machine to come up with a system that will reduce those few weeks to around 90 minute at the most! That’s from start to finish as well! In reality, you book up the appointment (probably do that on line now too!), then you go along and have some digital images taken of the bits and pieces you need doing. Whilst the dentist is getting your teeth ready for your fitting, the images would have been fed, via a computer into the milling machine to make your new fitting automatically. Then, it is cemented into place and out you walk. Of course, any slight alterations can be made on the spot to ensure a perfect fit and a perfect new tooth. Got time now? If it has been a while since you last visited your local dentist or you have been lucky enough not to require any treatment for a while then you might just be amazed about the new ways in which dentistry is able to be practiced. Like many aspects of the modern world, dentistry is being changed by the dazzling array of new technology which is on offer. And it is you, the patient who gets to reap all the benefits.
Many people put off going to the dentist to get that badly needed work done because they feel they simply don’t have the time. This is perfectly understandable with people working longer hours and families to look after. There hardly seems time for anything anymore! But CEREC technology means that many dental practices can now be carried out with breath taking swiftness that just wouldn’t have seem possible a few years ago.
Just take x-rays as an example. Dentists often need to get different views on one particular tooth or area of the mouth. With the traditional x-ray, this would mean that several different x-rays would have to be taken; a laborious process as every individual x-ray would have to be sent off for development in a lab. CEREC techniques use digital x-rays which are three dimensional, thus eliminating the need for repeated images to be taken.
These digital images can be used in conjunction with online technology so that things like porcelain dental veneers and crowns can be fitted very quickly indeed. The three dimensional data can be sent to online milling machines which make the products in little over five minutes. Your Basildon dentist will be delighted to explain all the changes and what they might mean for you and your mouth. Call 01245 268 494 for a free consultation at Advance Dental Clinic in Chelmsford.

Advances in technology mean that you could now have a false tooth fitted in only a single session with your dentist. No longer will you have to wait a fortnight or longer as your new crowns, veneers, underlays and onlays can be designed, constructed and fitted in just one visit to your dentist. The efficient procedure is now available in Basildon.
Old methods of using dental putty to take moulds of your teeth could be uncomfortable and mean long waiting times. CEREC is different because it allows dentists to take a digital image of your teeth using cutting edge technology. It is even superior to traditional xrays as the images are 3D, meaning your dentist can have incredible views of your teeth. These images are sent, fast to an online milling machine and your replacement tooth is constructed using high quality ceramics. This process takes roughly six minutes.
Your dentist will make the replacement to your surrounding teeth, ensuring a subtle, discreet finish and then cement it into place. With just one set of anaesthetic injections and the speed of the online milling, CEREC allows the whole process to take place in about one hour. What’s more, the cost is similar to traditional methods. Although the technology is state-of-the-art, CEREC means there are no laboratory fees and you only have to visit your dentist once. Crowns can cost from £380 to £700 and many dentists offer interest-free repayment plans.
There is no longer any need to wait for weeks for your false teeth while having to wear inconvenient temporary replacements. Ask your Basildon dentist today about the durable, efficient system offered by CEREC technology. Call 01245 268 494 for a free consultation at Advance Dental Clinic in Chelmsford.

Twenty years ago it would have been impossible to think that you could go to the dentist and have a false tooth or dental crown made and fitted during the same appointment. But thanks to new technology known as Cerec this has now become a possibility.
Cerec, introduced by Sirona Dental Systems in the UK, is a revolutionary new system that allows your dentist to make new crowns, veneers and inlays in just a single visit, vastly improving upon the old style of treatment which would take about two weeks on average.
Cerec works by utilising the new technology of three-dimensional imaging and digital x-rays. The dentist creates an image of your tooth on the computer using these new tools, replacing the need for dental moulds. Using this image, the dentist can then design the new tooth on the computer to incredible degrees of accuracy. When satisfied with the size and shape of the new tooth, they can then instruct an onsite milling machine to sculpt the new tooth from a single piece of porcelain. This will have been chosen to closely match the colour and texture of the existing teeth of the patient. This fabrication process can take as little as six minutes per tooth.
Once the tooth has been made, the dentist will make some final adjustments to it by staining it to match the other teeth and polishing or glazing it in a furnace. The new tooth will then be cemented in place in the same way as any other dental restoration. This involves preparing the area by removing any enamel that is in the way and maybe etching the tooth for greater grip. Cerec technology is now available from Basildon dentists, cutting down waiting and treatment times for all patients and giving you a same-day beautiful smile. New technologies in dentistry are bringing about a revolution that is slashing appointment and waiting times as well as vastly improving the standard and accuracy of treatment.
One such technology is CEREC, a state-of-the-art new system that uses the latest in digital x-rays and 3D imaging to create lifelike and perfectly sized crowns and veneers. CEREC stands for CEramic REConstruction and allows dentist to use the latest in computer-aided manufacture and design to create microscopically accurate dental replacements.
For patients with broken, worn or discoloured teeth it is often necessary to use porcelain veneers to repair or cosmetically enhance their teeth. Veneers are thin porcelain shells that fit over existing teeth to create a more healthy appearance. Previously dentists would need to take several dental moulds and x-rays to create an impression of the patient’s mouth. They would then use this to design and manufacture a veneer. This would take place in a laboratory and could take up to two weeks.
With CEREC a dentist can create an instant impression of the patient’s mouth using 3D imaging sensors. They can then use the computer to design a veneer in a matter of minutes. When satisfied with the projection, the dentist then instructs the computer to manufacture the veneer. Milled from a single piece of porcelain, a new veneer can be ready in as little as an incredible six minutes and can be fitted immediately. It is now possible to completely replace a row of patient’s teeth in one session.
CEREC represents the future of cosmetic dentistry. Not only has the time of treatment been reduced by as much as seventy five per cent but patients spend less time in the chair and are subjected to much less discomfort during treatment because there is no need for uncomfortable dental moulds. The standard of treatment has also increased as dramatically. The use of computers means that crowns and veneers can be manufactured to microscopic levels of accuracy. If you are suffering from a cracked or broken tooth, or if you want to restore the appearance of your badly worn or discoloured teeth, ask a Brentwood dentist about revolutionary CEREC technology and you could transform your smile in an afternoon.

This weekend one of my old gold fillings fell out leaving me with quite a large hole in my tooth.
My colleague James saved the day with an all ceramic filling using our CEREC machine and the tooth has settled down very well.
It was quite strange being on the other side of the fence, especially being numb for most of the day, I think my patients thought I’d been drinking!!

It was interesting to hear the comments on the recent ITV programme regarding the safety of amalgam fillings. At Advance Dental Clinic we stopped using amalgam nearly 6 years ago and have felt that the less amalgam put into peoples mouths and therefore the enviroment the better,
We have excellent alternatives such as CEREC for larger fillings and white resin fillings for smaller cavities
Feel free to call us if you have any concerns over the safety of whats in your mouth.

A patient from Ingatestone attended the clinic yesterday with a fractured back tooth. Unfortunately the tooth was causing severe discomfort and the patient had a Christams party to attend that evening. We decided to place a same visit Cerec crown to restore the natural form and function of the tooth. The porcelain tooth was designed and fitted in only 30 minutes and the patient left the practice able to enjoy his Christmas party in style.
